It's been a long time since I wrote in this blog. I haven't given up, but it's hard to be optimistic when it's the little people against the collective fossil fuel industry plus government leaders who are so easily swayed by "donations." Take the COP28 conference that wrapped up in the UAE two days ago. This was an "environmental" conference. But guess who was there. It was a who's who of all the influencers in the oil and gas industries, from the CEOs to the sneaky fossil fuel lobbyists. They were there, numbering in the thousands, and this is known only due to some transparency laws that required a little disclosure.
One theory could be that they're there to learn. But grown adults know better. We know how money works. We know how many amazing drinks, dinners "and more!" were shared by crude [oil], deep pockets with the malleable governmental representatives. How can a conference like COP28 reach it's goal to eliminate reliance on fossil fuels with so many people who thrive on fossil fuel in attendance. It's a dog-and-pony show that isn't going to get anything done, other than flying a bunch (~97,000+) of people from around the planet using fossil fuels.
